Fairtrade Motion passed by Northampton Borough Council

This Council recognises that FAIRTRADE is tackling poverty by enabling disadvantaged producers from poor countries to receive a better deal, through encouraging support for the FAIRTRADE mark.

We therefore resolve to support FAIRTRADE by

- Serving FAIRTRADE tea & coffee at our meetings & offices

-
Encouraging the use of FAIRTRADE products in our town in the local
workplaces & community organisations

-
Attracting support for FAIRTRADE in the media & in our own publications

-
Supporting the formation of a local steering group to ensure the continued
commitment to obtaining FAIRTRADE TOWN status.

Northampton Borough Council passed this unanimously on
26th April 2004.

We officially announced the good news of becoming a Fairtrade Town August 2006
